Thanksgiving in Paris: Your guide to dining out or cooking at home! 🩃

That time out year is here: Halloween has passed and now us Americans can look forward to our annual Thanksgiving feast, which falls on the fourth Thursday of November (this is the time when I ignore all those Christmas decorations here in Paris that have already popped up!). As both an American and a major foodie, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. 🩃

Cooking a Thanksgiving meal at home for friends and family can be quite overwhelming, even more so when you’re abroad and your local supermarkets do not have the key ingredients you need! Not planning on cooking? No problemo; There are also many restaurants in Paris that host Thanksgiving. I have prepared a list of addresses and information so that you will be all set for this year’s feast!

🩃 Grocery Stores & Butchers

Luckily in Paris, there are a handful of options (below)! Keep in mind, the stores Thanksgiving (Marais area) as well as L’Épicerie Anglaise (RĂ©publique area) are permanently closed. đŸ˜„

1.) The Real McCoy

They actually have a “Thanksgiving bag” that contains ingredients for cooking a Thanksgiving meal for 6!

Call them now or email to order (up until the day before):

They have delicious, juicy, farm-bred turkeys (you can ask them to roast it for you, too – comes with stuffing and the roasting juices).

They also have pecan and pumpkin pies, carrot cakes and cheesecakes as well as a large selection of Thanksgiving products: fresh cranberries, canned cranberry sauce, Stove Top stuffing mix, pumpkin pie filling, yams, turkey bags, basters and a lot more. I’ve included some useful photos from inside the shop below!

Location: 194 Rue de Grenelle, 75007 Paris
Tel: +33 (0)1 45 56 98 82

Email: us.food@wanadoo.fr
Hours: Open 7 days per week 10am-8pm

2.) Costco

Starting mid-month, this wholesale giant is stocked with 5kg and 8kg turkeys.

They also have:

– Fresh cranberries, pomegranates and persimmons.

– Traditional apple and pumpkin pies.

– American style dinner rolls and more

Location: 3 ave de Bréhat, 91140 Villebon-sur-Yvette
Hours: Open Mon-Fri 10am-9pm, Sat 9am-9pm

3.) Smaller store selections to check out:

You can find some Thanksgiving products at Marks & Spencer (many locations throughout Paris — I bought some Turkey gravy there last week), In Good We Trust (67 rue Quincampoix and online) and at La Grande Épicerie.

4.) Your local butcher or volailler

I know of expats who are friendly with their local butchers and order their Thanksgiving turkeys (including cooked) through them. Keep in mind that the turkeys here will probably be much smaller, so I would ask your butcher about it. Consider yourself lucky if your butcher can provide you with a 5-7kg (11-15lb) bird. I’ve also heard that some sell their own French-style stuffing as well!

5.) Order Online

Other than In Good We Trust (67 rue Quincampoix and online), there is an online-only store called My Little America. They have a Thanksgiving Bundle for 44 euros.
