Charmant Som: Cow Paradise!

There’s a lot of beauty to appreciate in the Chartreuse mountain range. There’s watching the paragliders take off over Crolles and visiting the old Fort du Saint-Eynard (which also has an adorable restaurant). There’s a lot to see. Recently, I visited a place that may beat everything I’ve seen so far: Charmant Som. Why? Possibly due to my love for farm animals. All I know is, when I think about Charmant Som, I feel like my heart flutters. Photos:

Beautiful pics & I love fondue a la tomme! I’ve never been for a hike here yet so have added to my list! I love the mountains and am often surprised at seeing random farm animals (I once came across a pig whilst skiing in Les Gets).

Did you get to see the Coupe Icare paragliding contest?

Thank-you! I’ve had the ‘fondue savoyarde’ but not a la Tomme. Will try it at some point hopefully. Yes I want to hike here as well- looks lovely! I haven’t hiked much since I’ve gotten here but hopefully will get to it; once I do I will blog about different hiking trails, etc (but may not be for a while!). Ha – that’s cute that you saw a pig! I’m hoping to see some mountains goats and chamois..

I see that you lived in Lyon and are now in rural France; are you near Grenoble? I will check out your blog asap!

Nope, didn’t see a paragliding contest. Sounds cool. Tant pis. Did you?

Mountain goats are cute, at least I think so!
I thought maybe you saw the Coupe Icare as it was near Froges in September, I saw some pictures you took and it looked like where it was.
Yes, I lived in Lyon but we moved to the Nord-Isere in June of this year. We’re 45 mins from Grenoble, 45 mins from Lyon and 25 mins from Chambery.

Dana! I’m waiting for your Paris posts!! How’d your weekend go?!

It’s like we traded places this weekend, you were in the city and I was in the country!

Hi Ella! Oh my.. didn’t even get to upload the photos to my computer (got back around midnight last night)! I was in your neighborhood quite a bit.. went to Panfoulia (LOVED the burger!) and had a mojito at Les Etages (chill place; felt like I was transported Brooklyn for a minute! Didn’t like the mojito though- too much shaved ice, and for 11 euros! Took 5 sips and it was done.). I walked everywhere in all of the main neighborhoods of Paris. Now next time I come in I’ll know where to go!

It is like we traded places! How was it in the country?

I’m glad you liked La Panfoulia! We were there last night for some beef! Boeuf!

I hope the next time that you are in ‘P-town’, I’m here so we could do it up NY style!

And yes, Les Etages is pricey….that’s my once in a while place. Sorry they made your drink so icey! Salauds!
