Je souhaite une très bonne rentrée scolaire aux profs et aux étudiants (surtout ma petite nièce de 3 ans qui commence l’école maternelle aujourd’hui) !
Wishing teachers and students a warm welcome back to school today (especially my lovely 3-year-old niece who starts French kindergarten today)!

September 4, 2012 at 12:20 pmYou can live vicariously through Grenobloise until you come back. 😉
Where are you living atm? England? I’m envious of your nomadic lifestyle!
P.S. I’m checking out your “Chocolate Courgette Cake”… I grew up with “Zucchini Bread” and I make it still.. my absolute fave.. I don’t want to break tradition, but seeing it as a cake, chocolate-colored and with icing is making me über curious..! Although I don’t have the sugar you mention in the recipe… just regular white sugar, and also brown sugar brought from the US. Hmmm..

September 11, 2012 at 10:07 pmI love your Grenobloise Blog, it makes me so happy. I dream of sipping Chocolat Chaud in The Bookworm, reading an old battered paperback.
I’m currently housesitting in Yorkshire, ENgland. Not sure where next when this finishes in a couple of weeks, such is our life!
I found sugar buying very complex during my 4 week stay in Grenoble. How can sugar be so different in two countries that can see each other across THe Channel?
For the choc Courgette cake I would prob use Cassonade {light or dark} I liked the La Perruche brand (cause it had a parrot on it :)) or your american brown sugar. Muscovado sugar is an unrefined brown sugar, but any brown sugar would work. The cassonade is a bit bigger grains if I remember rightly. White sugar would work too but lacks that deeper flavour. Let me know how you get on xxx

September 12, 2012 at 8:52 amThank you so much for explaining the sugars to me! It’s much appreciated. Now I can try your choc Z bread. 🙂
If you would like me to take pics of something in particular here in G-town let me know. 🙂
I have yet to try the chocolate chaud @ the Bookworm! I went for the ones at T’es Com’Un Grand or at the Xmas market. Will try it!

September 13, 2012 at 11:14 amI was in Gren for two weeks on my own before hubby joined me so I frequented Bookworm a lot, perusing the bookshelves. It’s such a cosy little bookshop and comfy place to while away a few hours. It was always my treat for walking up and down the Bastille!
The best ever Macarons I’ve ever had were from David et Francois at the back of the Jardin de ville. Better than any I bought in the centre of town. You could photograph them! hee hee.
