Montrouge is a city in the banlieue just south of Paris, between the towns of Gentilly and Malakoff. I only know of it due the their infamous yearly art fair: Le Salon de Montrouge. I apply to this show every year, wishing to be accepted. (Cross your fingers for me for next year!)
Right next to the impressive Beffroi de Montrouge (arts center building), also on the Emile Cresp square, is a large restaurant with an impressive terrace: La Quincaillerie Générale. We needed some pre-art show fuel, and this place looked nice and was packed (good sign!) so we decided to give it a try.
My boyfriend ordered a chicken dish flavored with wonderful Asian aromatics, and I got the fish and chips dish with delicious home made fries and tartare sauce. Yum! My only complaint is that it was a bit small (but everything is seemingly too small for me in France!). #roomfordessert
There was also a delicious coconut tiramisu for dessert:
It was a really lovely day that started off with a great meal. I definitely recommend checking out the Salon de Montrouge next spring, with an emphasis on Saturdays when there are often live performances throughout the day!
