The Belledonne range, which hugs the west side of Grenoble, is most known for its ski stations like Chamrousse, Sept Laux and Collet d’Avellard. I wanted to explore the little Belledonne villages that I often see in the distance of the Grésivaudan valley which are much lower in altitude, situated on the Belledonne’s balconies (okay, this sounds much nicer en français! – see post title). Finally, a few weeks ago, I visited a few villages, including Venon and Revel. Here are some photos (and a video) from Alpine paradise.

Venon (location of the infamous lonely hilltop tree that you see from the highway!)

View of Grenoble (see: Bastille) from Venon

J’adore cette ferme !

La jolie mairie de Venon

the lovely farm on a steep hill, Revel

the dogs who make my photo compositions more dynamic 🙂

counting sheep .. et puis dodo

Last one.. looking towards Grenoble

…and now a little video of this farm in Revel that I’m obsessed with:

It is thanks to the charming Alpine farms like these that make me happy that I’m not in NYC!
