Grenoble is surrounded by mountains. To the north lies the Chartreuse, to the south and west the Vercors, and to the east the Belledonne range (Grenoble is known as The Capital of the Alps). I have a special love for the mystery and beauty of the Charteuse, and I think of the Belledonne as the big fabulous one where you’d go to ski in the nicest resorts. The Vercors, on the other hand, is a place I haven’t visited until now.
The cows of the Vercors are cute, just like the ones of the Chartreuse.
I had no idea where we were going. My surprise was a medieval town from the 16th century called Pont-en-Royans; a town rich in history celebrated for its colorful houses suspended on the side of a valley.
I recommend going here on a picnic on a nice day! If it’s warm bring your bathing suit.
