Je viens de finir ma première peinture de Grenoble ! Je travaille sur une nouvelle série de tableaux dans mon petit atelier au centre ville de Grenoble.
I have just finished my first painting of Grenoble! I am working on a brand new body of work in my beautiful little studio in Grenoble’s city center.

October 5, 2011 at 7:50 amHey Jules! Thanks so much for the feedback! I’m glad you appreciate the contrast; I had to really control myself to not put much color on that building (nor the Bastille), ha! I’m not used to drawing concrete & stone; ‘was definitely a good challenge for me!
I like that in between the buildings you’ve got some lush, abstracted, ‘sauvage’ trees. That’s what I love about Grenoble; there may be buildings and some ugly stuff but usually, no matter where you look, you’ll see the mountains. So, nature is not completely overpowered. It’s right there, it’s divine. It’s admired. I guess that was a big reason I chose to paint this one. It also includes the Bastille which is a huge historical landmark here.
